Falter of my favorite Brand – Nokia

The greatest achievement of humanity is not its works of art, science, or technology, but the recognition of its own dysfunction.

Nokia, not just a brand but a company which touched hearts of millions by selling the quality mobile handsets. The first mobile phone I saw was Nokia 3315, a rock solid usually called “Brick” was an amazing phone. It was the time when for all the people meaning of phone and Nokia were same.

Connecting people, is somewhat like the Microsoft vision of giving everyone a personal computer. And while there are people in certain parts of the 3rd world that doesn’t have mobile phones, I would say Nokia did an amazing job to get a mobile phone into everyone’s hands.

As per techillicious columnist Rajiv Makhni, The newly appointed CEO Stephen Elop was planted in Nokia by Microsoft as a Trojan Horse to destroy the company and buy it out. Nokia was a company that was already starting to falter when Elop came on board. What else could the company have done to survive? Their options seem limited from what we know about the marketplace. They could have release an android phone, but then they just would have been fighting for a piece of the pie that Samsung, Moto, and other phone makers are eating. They could have stayed with their phone OS and probably would have had just about the same fate as picking up Windows Mobile.

When Elop came in as Nokia CEO, Nokia was Number 1 in smartphones sales. In fact, it was Number 1 by a wide margin. Samsung lagged far behind. Nokia was selling about 10 million smartphones a month, more than twice as compared to others.

During Elop’s tenure, Nokia annual revenues fell 40% from 41 Billion Euros per year to 25 Billion Euros per year. Nokia profits fell 92% from 2.4 Billion Euros per year to 188 Million Euros per year. Nokia handset sales fell 40% from 456 million units per year to 274 million units per year. Nokia share price which was at 7.12 Euros on the day Elop was hired, had fallen to 81% to a bottom level of 1.44 Euros two years later, after which it began trading at 4.14 Euros, up 36% on the day. Elop’s success in negotiating the sale of Nokia’s struggling mobile device business to Microsoft has been described by many securities analysts as a significant victory for NOK shareholders, particularly when viewed in context of failed efforts by Blackberry or HP to secure value for handset business owned by those companies.

I saw few lines on Nokia which I read few years back. These line describe’s the love of people for their favorite brand.

Playing snake until the death,
While some create ringtones,
It was an unbreakable phone,
I’ll remember till my last breath.

This is a company loved by all, a brand that evokes a warm feeling of joy and comfort, a brand that is identified with starting the entire mobile phone revolution. More competition is always a good thing but for Nokia  it became tough to fight for its existence. The Nokia story will always remind us of how quickly even large companies can die in today’s world. They didn’t even see it coming.

There is always a last time for everything.

“Not everyone who smiles on your face is your friend”

Be careful who you trust, the devil was once an angel.

I cut people off with no hesitation, no explanation and no warning, if you do some phony shit or if I feel like you can’t be trusted. Life is too short and I’m getting too old to be hanging with people who don’t understand the concept of loyalty. I can’t trust everybody, I can’t love everybody. And can’t be friends with everybody.

Can’t be friends with people who always lie, cheat and stab you in the back for no reason. You put on a great show for others but i know the real you. ‘WE ARE FRIENDS’ hearing those bullshit words come out of your mouth though. Puts a smile on my face. keep it coming I love getting a laugh everyday.

These are the people who you can never ever trust. They will claim to be your friend but at the first sign of trouble will stab you in the back just to protect themselves.

It’s true, I may not be perfect but at least I am not fake. Who is perfect? No one. I found out while I was in college that few people I thought were my friend are actually one of the fakest, most back-stabbing people I’ve ever met in my life.

Better to have an enemy who slaps you in the face than a friend who stabs you in the back. What I got to know is that some people will always cheat you for their well being and your friendship with them is just a joke for them as they know when to take advantage. You need to know who are the real one’s in your circle and who are fake. It’s important to get away from them, than to be used by them.

Make sure everybody in your boat is rowing and not drilling holes when you’re not looking.

“Smiling has always been easier, than explaining why you are Sad”

People think they know you. They think they know how you’re handling a situation. But the truth is no one knows, know one knows after you leave them, when you’re lying in bed or sitting over your breakfast alone and all you want to do is cry or scream. They don’t know what’s going on inside your head- the mind – the numbing cocktail of anger and sadness & guilt. They just don’t know. So you pretend & say you’re doing great when you’re really not. And it makes everyone feels better. But does it change your feeling? Your pain goes away? Your smile becomes genuine?

The answer is No,We all have chapters we would rather keep unpublished. Why you believe in faking a smile? Because its very tough for you to explain to each one of them, that how bad you feel, the nights which you cried and the loneliness.

The worst feeling is pretending you don’t care about something, when really it’s all you think about. I know how it feels like, when you don’t have anyone to share your feelings with. People are their but you know that they will never understand what you are going through. Many of them are just their to make fun of it. I know it hurts but its time for you to move, why to just act like you’re happy when you’re not.

You must make a decision that you are going to move on. It wont happen automatically. You will have to rise up and say, I don’t care how hard this is, I don’t care how disappointed I am, I’m not going to let this get the best of me. I’m moving on with my life.

You  might not get over it but you will get through it.

“While there’s a Life, their’s Hope”

Are you tired? Do you feel like you’re loosing yourself? You feel like you’re hanging by a thread and it’s just about to break? You feel as if you’re shouting for help but only you can hear is your heart cry?

There comes many phase in our life where our mind says give up but the heart whispers their’s still a hope. Its Life, pain after happiness , happiness after pain and that’s the way it goes. But many a time it’s very hard to handle the tough phase. How much you try things don’t get fixed, people disappoint you, friends are just too busy to listen to you and you find it very stringent to share your thoughts with you family.

We all know those times in our lives when we start to feel like things aren’t moving. We feel stuck, depressed, anxious, or all of the above. Some of us may go down an even deeper, darker hole, and for others this may feel like a new occurrence. The “Stuckness” may last for an hour, a day, a week, and sometimes it feels like it could go on for a month or more.

Believe me, never give up on anything miracle’s do happen. You just need to keep calm and you’ll rise from nowhere to somewhere you would have never thought when you were in a terrible situation.

Breathe: So often we forget what we are actually doing, we just need to take some deep breaths and have a positive attitude. People who are in deep ocean are thinking to reach the moon.

Have faith: Trust that whenever the universe brings you situations that cause pain and suffering, it’s a way of asking you to pause and take care of yourself. Life teaches us through love and it also teaches us through pain.

Hope: Whatever you do hold on to Hope. Remember, the tiniest thread will twist into unbreakable cord. Let Hope anchors you in the possibility that this is not the end of your story. No matter how bleak things may seem, there is always hope!

Remember that nothing last forever, even the difficult times: You’ll get through this hard time. If you will take care of yourself and remain open to the lessons, you WILL be brought to the next level in your life. There’s meaning and purpose to our circumstances, though we might not know what that is at the time.

It’s not about forcing happiness, it’s about not letting sadness win.

“The Fault in Our Stars”

“Oh! I wouldn’t mind _________. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.”

In the above line, I just left a blank so that you can adjust your loved ones name & then read it. It sounds beautiful, isn’t it? “Fault in our stars”, a novel and now a movie too. I just completed with this beautiful movie. The story is about a sixteen-year-old cancer patient, who is forced by her parents to attend a support group, where she subsequently meets and falls in love with the seventeen-year-old guy, an ex-basketball player and amputee.

Instead of talking about the story, I would like to share my thoughts, what I came across and what happens in real life instead of reel life. We all come across good and bad situations and that’s why its called life. There comes a time when you realize not everything is in your control. At times we all are just too focused on what’s not in our control. We think about the pain more than the happiness which came to us.

Life is a box with uncertain stuffs, you never know where life will take you. You never know what’s going to happen in your life, and you never know what’s going to happen in someone’s else life either. I believe that everything happens for a reason, things go wrong so that you can appreciate when they’re right. You believe lies so that you can learn to trust no one but yourself and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. I think it takes much more longer to fix stuffs.

Recognize that while some things are in your control, other things aren’t. Let go of the things you can’t control – they aren’t worth occupying your mind over. Instead, focus on what is in your power. Before we can make a change in our lives, we have to shift our responsibility to aspects of our life that we previously didn’t take responsibility for.

I hope one day cancer will only be a zodiac sign..

“You’re remembered only when you’re needed”

“Color is only beautiful when it means something..”

You need to accept the fact that not every smiling face is your friend. People will come to you when they need something. I have a question, when was the last time you received a call saying “Hey, I just called up for mere talk, no favors”?. Don’t remember?? In fact, I didn’t get any of such calls and even a text. People are so busy in their life that they don’t have time to connect for once. They will remember you when they know you are helpful for them.

They will ping you to like their Facebook status & pictures, you’ll lend them your money because they are in very much need for some or the other reason, do something great for them as they are expecting something & if you don’t then they pretend you have done wrong to them. You have done a lot for them.

It’s not about what you have done for them but what’s bad when they only come up with what wrong you have done to them and at times they’ll make you remember even stuffs which was not wrong. Sometime they will start counting something which never happened, instead of appreciating all those good you have done for them.

And the most painful part about this is they will neglect you after what you have done kind to them. And all you ever wanted is to have a little conversation with them, yet they were not able to think about that. Somehow, they need to know that you have feelings too, that there must be a give and take in this kind of relationship.
Don’t pretend to comfort me. I might also pretend to not let you down.”

Mozzila Lightbeam – Firefox tool shows who is tracking your online movements

Mozilla, the open-source software community responsible for the Firefox browser, has released a new download that allows users to identify who’s tracking their Internet movements.

A 11 years old software company has released something which is in interest of each individual using the Internet. “Lightbeam,” the free Firefox extension will enable users to see which third party companies are monitoring their online presence, a move that Mozilla states will “illuminate the inner workings of the web.”

Lightbeam creates a visual representation of all the third parties that are active on the websites we visit. Typically, that would include advertisers or other companies looking to sell your data for marketing purposes. Mozilla is also encouraging Lightbeam users to crowd-source their data in order to generate “a big-picture view of how tracking works on the Internet,” potentially singling out which companies are the most active in their monitoring.

As per Mozzila, the visualization grows with every site we visit and every request made from our browser. In addition to the graph view, we can also see our data in a clock view to examine connections over a 24-hour period or in a List view to drill down into individual sites.

Lightbeam will create a record of events for every site we visit and every third party site that is stored locally on our browser. Lightbeam visually graphs these events to highlight the interactions between sites we intentionally visit and the third parties. It will surely help us to learn how the Internet tracking take place.
